Sunday Round Up #6

When was the last time you looked through the sites you follow?

Go right back to the beginning, to the first batch that ever received that magical follow click from your fingertips.

Every fortnight, I round-up five of my followed blogs. Since joining in late-2012, some are still going strong, others not so much, but all are worth the mention. Feel free to join in – do your own and link back to this post! Maybe I’ll discover some new blogs along the way… Otherwise, stick around, you might find something new!

Writing by Lorna

If you like your Rabbie Burns, but dealing with modern chat instead of yon bonnie braes, look no further.

I think it was after the death of a schoolfriend that I found Lorna – I’d adapted Tae a Moose/To a Mouse because for some reason my brain decided to grieve like that. Occasionally, this form is revived garnering a fraction of air time, and amid my search for anyone else playing around with it, this is where I landed.

Lucy Bird – uncovering the world’s secrets, one adventure at a time

The High Flier- Isabella Lucy Bird (1831–1904)Another ‘photography’ search, another site found and followed. Named after and inspired by the English explorer, Isabella Lucy Bird, this is a site dedicated to the owner’s travels, Samantha Willner.

A solo traveller herself, when her adventures are not being featured in various publications, her tales are told through a blend of writing and photography.

And when she isn’t writing or taking photos, she’s only out fundraising for diabetes. It’s a pretty busy place over there, let me tell you!

Crafted in Carhartt – about women who do amazing things

As the tag and site suggests, Crafted in Carhartt endeavours to find incredible women in all sorts of places, working in all kinds of roles. Thanks to the sponsorship of work-clothing company Carharrt and the tireless efforts of the site’s content creators, there’s no end to the tales of the women featured and the fascinating lives they lead, whether it’s DIY tips or a day-in-the-life-of.

(Incidentally, they found me instead of the other way around, which makes a change… I wonder what that says about them. Personally, I take it as a compliment, except I’m yet to find a way to justify a place on their blog).

The Journal

A personal site of the editor of The Home Style Directory, this is, as described, a “smorgasbord” of all things they enjoy.

Due to the nature of the job, the site not so much covers but dips into the trending topics of the moment, discussing past interviews with well-known faces, and opens the entry to floor for the readers opinions.

Vagabond Adventures

This site is a mish-mash of the kind of things you might expect from a someone studying in a different country. From travel stories to show reviews, there are many things to enjoy here – particularly the show reviews, not least because she’s in London; y’know, the home of the majority of stage premieres. If memory serves me right, I think I arrived here when searching for other opinion pieces on the ‘Coriolanus‘ production at Donmar Warehouse. This lucky lady managed to grab a ticket – I had to make do with the live screening.
