About

____

I perform.

I write.

And procrastinate.

____

Laidig’s Broadway was created and developed during both of my theatre degrees, where analysing shows came with the territory. With a brain that works at the speed of light, most of the time I had no way of putting enough of it to use. Then I found WordPress, and the rest is history blog entries.

This has now become one big ol’ thinking out loud blog about theatah, freelancing and (preferably) everything that doesn’t involve the aforementioned. Part review, part showing off, I will do anything that doesn’t involve writing theatre scripts.

[I’ve been on and off hiatus for well over a year now (for not great reasons), after a previous hiatus (for only marginally-better-but-not-really reasons), so I’m still working out a schedule that works with me not against. Let’s see what 2021 has in store!]

  1. I have a thinking out loud blog to. I don’t know if anyone gets it yet but who cares. I get it and I like your blog! And damn it I like my blog! LOL I think everyone goes through this at your age. 20’s suck. Just hang on be open and eventually you’ll get through this. I wish I would have spent as much time reflecting when I was your age. I reacted to much. It wasn’t the best choice.

    1. Thank you 🙂 Well the thoughts have to go somewhere, right? That was the idea behind this anyways, although I’ve always been really pensive. No idea how my mum could handle such a thoughtful child, but then again, she’s the one who would ask me questions like “Do you think rabbits have tails?” on the school run, so clearly she started it, haha 😛

  2. Your blog is interesting and I think I will learn a lot from it, not having watched theatre for years now, shame on me… Anyway, I found you through Blogging 201 and am now a new follower. I hope you will stop by, too, and maybe follow mine back. 🙂

  3. Fantastic introduction! I love the “Brain Emptying” and “Shameless Plugging” –> Well, at least you’re honest, right? 😉
Unfortunately, my involvement in the arts are, well, limited, and therefore I don’t know any members of any theatre clubs. 😥 But I wish you the very best in finding them.

    1. Hey, the least I can do is give a warning. A warning about how good I am at what I do 🙂 Ha!

It’s ok, I won’t hold it against you 🙂 Thank you for stopping by!

  4. Hi, thanks for liking my blog! Now you asked me what I find you inspiring. See while I’m an aspiring writer I’m also an aspiring artist and musician. But part of my pursuing writing lies in my fear of not making it big in the music industry. It’s more difficult to make your mark with music and my kind of music probably won’t survive in the mainstream environ in my country. So i guess your ability to take a risk and express yourself in theatre, music or even in skiing is like my benchmark. So thanks for keeping my dream alive 🙂

    1. This has to be one of the sweetest messages I’ve received in a very long time, if completely unexpected! I thought (at a push) something you’d read on here sparked a thought or idea but thank you 🙂

Fear is a powerful motivator – in your case, it pushed you to follow a different path, maybe for a year, maybe forever, but the courage will come back in some way. I always thought I was destined to perform, and never wanted to be a writer. Eventually ate my words, because I was accepted to do (and have since completed) an MSc in playwriting. I still perform, and now I have a couple of shows coming up that I’m directing. That’s the beauty of life – you never know what’s around the corner. Unless you’re skiing. Then it’s a problem 🙂

  5. I love this about page. It seems to be so you. At least I feel like I know who you are by only reading this. Well done! I am intrigued and looking forward to learn more about you through your posts 🙂

  6. Awesome introduction! I dont know if you’ve considered it, but maybe if you have the confidence on the area where you write I sing, I dance, I perform, I write, you could link to examples of your work.

    1. Thank you for stopping by!

Other than the writing, those things really aren’t the focus of this blog, more just facts I like to brag about 😉 I share processes behind my writing, and I concluded a five part micro-film series at the end of December (although that was more of an experiment than anything else).

Thank you for your thoughts! Every now and then, the question does cross my mind. The site is a continuous work in progress 🙂

  7. Oh great, now I have a girl crush. As *soon* as I hit your About page, and again when I Followed you, I totally laughed out loud. I swear to you, I stood up and said, I gotta go get a beer and sit back down. God, I already have a horrible time-management problem!! Oh well, what’s one more new fav author?

  8. PS Your blog feels to me like I just got this new, awesome book I’ve been waiting for from the library for for- EVER, and it’s 700 pages long, and I’m just starting to turn to page one…..Yum for me. 😉

    1. Haha, thanks for joining! I’m usually quite good with my time until it involves doing something for just me, and then the hours zip by and I’m left with a to-do list bigger than I started with. Beer is so much easier, anyway 🙂
